3. You grew up near an abandoned farm, which was a great place for a kid to hang out. In the farm's old fields, you used to marvel at the occasional meadow vole (Microz'us pennsylvanicus) with dark (nearly black) fur, as 90% of the other voles were a lighter brown. Recently, someone purchased and rejuvenated the farm, plowing and planting row crops in all of the fields. In those fields, you don't find as many voles (same species) as you did before, but it seems like a greater proportion of them now have darker fur. Since you're interested in evolutionary ecology, you trap a bunch of those voles, and submit for DNA analysis a snippet of fur collected from each. The focus of that analysis is the frequency of dominant and recessive alleles of Mclr, a gene that controls key (but not all) aspects of fiir color. Presence of the dominant Mclr allele confers darker fur, while voles With homozygous recessive Mclr alleles have lighter fur. The DNA analysis indicates that, in the current vole population, the frequency of the recessive MClR allele is 0.9 According to the information at hand, is there evidence of microevolution in the farm's vole population? What percentage of the vole population now has darker fur, and what key assumption do you need to generate that estimate? Make sure to justify your inferences with quantitative reasoning, and assume that l) dominance is complete for the Mclr gene (admittedly an oversimplification), and 2) many generations of voles have been produced since the farm was rejuvenated
