Objective: This activity has the purpose of helping the student to apply the learned concepts of programming to solve algebra and calculus equations, represent the symbolized equations solution with graph and calculate the solution of a symbolized equation substitute with the sub commands (Objective 1,2 and 3) Student Instructions: 1. Solve the Problem 13 of chapter 11 on page 387 (Gilat). 2. Identify your work with your personal data (Name, last name, student id number). 3. This activity will have one (1) attempt. 4. Total value of 25 points 5. This program will be delivered via "Safe Assign" in Blackboard. 6. The deadline for this activity can be found in "Tools" located in "Calendar" in the Blackboard platform. Problem The mechanical power output P in a contracting muscle is given by: P=Tv=kvTo(k+vmaxv1vmaxv) Where T is the muscle tension, v is the shortening velocity ( max of vmax ), To is the isometric tension( i.e., tension at zero velocity), and k is a non-dimensional constant that ranges between 0.15 and 0.25 for most muscles. The equation can be written in nondimensional form: p=kuTo(k+u1u) Where p=T0vmaxTv and u=vmaxv Consider the case for k=0.25 a) Plot p versus u for 0u1, use ezplot or fplot command by the given range b) Use differentiation to find the value of u where p is maximum. c) Find the maximum value of p. Use the subs command and explain the meaning of the results. Refer to the text chapter 11 for more examples. For more practice, refer to the textbook Gilat, A. (2015).
