You are presented with a number of different work situations for a senior management position. In each case, the situation presented is followed by a number of possible responses.
Your task is to rate EACH of the responses for their effectiveness in dealing with the situation.
The rating scale you will use is shown below. You will need to use this rating scale throughout the assessment.

Q. 6 - Situation:
You have recently been appointed to a position in a new company and head a team of several individuals. You have a rather sensitive issue to deal with. Jake, a member of your new team, applied for your post but was not selected following interview. He is an experienced worker, and has worked within the section for five years. You have been told by the retiring manager that he is typically a very enthusiastic and reliable worker, although it was considered that he was not quite ready to take on a supervisory role, hence the reason he was not given the promotion. Already you sense a certain 'unfriendly' atmosphere between Jake and yourself. You suspect that he resents you taking away his promotion hopes. Nonetheless, you need his support and experience to build the team.
