Please read the case Ethical Dilemma: Is it Worth Hiring a Star Instead of a Team Player? in Robbins & Judge, page 348.

Discuss the following:

  1. Think of some of the processes we learned about in this chapter, such as team identity and team cohesion. How would a team member who has difficulty working with others affect these processes?
  2. In Chapter 9, recall the effects of incivility on employees. Think about how incivility behaviors from a prima donna employee may affect the organization. Would you still hire an employee that has a high individual performance but does not like working with others? Why or why not?
  3. Upward communication keeps managers informed about how employees feel about their jobs, co-workers, and the organization in general. Managers also welcome feedback on how conditions can be improved. What method of communication would you use to communicate the challenges that the group is having with the employee? Why? Explain.

Please start one thread of your own and respond to at least two others. Please be sure you are citing concept and theories from the readings to your responses to the questions.
