Please read the case study provided. Please NAME and FULLY DESCRIBE IN DETAIL 10 (ten) potential liabilty exposures in which Canopy Growth Corporation may potentially face with the products in which they manufacture and/or sell?
Canopy Growth Corporation (hereafter Canopy) is a Canadian cannabis company. Canopy was founded in 2013 by Linton in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. It offers cannabis in dried, oil, and softgel capsule forms, as well as in the form of medical devices through its subsidiary, Storz & Bickel GMbH & Co. KG. Canopy was backward integrated with its own greenhouse facilities for cannabis cultivation. The corporation operates retail stores across Canada under two banners, Tweed and Tokyo Smoke. Canopy also possessed 12 licensed cannabis production sites with millions of square feet of production capacity. It had its own distribution center and logistics solution. Canopy also allied with logistics solution providers, such as Brink, who took care of both domestic and international logistics.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are common compounds that occur in cannabis. Recreational cannabis has higher levels of THC than medical cannabis, whereas medical cannabis has higher levels of CBD. Canopy segmented recreational customers, who were looking for "relaxation, enrichment of daily life, and socialization. Canopy was focused on developing more value-added recreational cannabis products so that higher margins could be commanded. Its value-added products included vape devices, vape oil, and pre-rolled cannabis cigarettes ("joints"). Vaping cannabis was a major focus of Canopy and the cannabis industry in general, as it was expected to become a substitute for vaping tobacco. Companies were also selling edible cannabis in brownies and other edibles. Research indicated that these were more dangerous than smoked or vaped cannabis, causing cardiovascular problems, compared to vomiting and related gastrointestinal problems caused by smoked or vaped cannabis.
