Duringtonight's class I gave you the basis for Ethical Leadership that I expect you to use throughout the course when trying to determineif a leader or leaders are practicing ethical leadership. In class, we looked at the CNN video on the Flint, Michigan Water Crisis. Use what you learned in this class to analyze what happened inFlint, Michigan. You should have already read up on this crisisand what new developments have taken place. As youreview the material on Flint, Michigan, pleaseanswer the following:
1. Identifythe leaders in the Flint, Michigan water crisis?
2. When thewater contaminationbecame known to the leaders, what did they do?
3. Based upon what you know about Ethical Leadership through the readings and class discussions, did the leaders' actions embody ethical solutions? Why or why not?
4. What arethe long-term consequences of what these leaders did during this crisis?
5. Was there any leader who acted ethically? If so, please tell me who andhow?
6. Please think about ethical leadership and tell me how the leaders should have responded to this crisis. I want you to specifically tell me your ideas on what measures you would take to uphold the concept of ethical leadership? What would have been your plan? How different is your plan from what the current leaders did to respond to the crisis?
Think about what we discussed in class about the Kim Davis situation. Remember we discussed how she could have gotten her message across to the community in a more productive/ethical way by planning her actions? Well, I want you to think about the water crisis and tell me in what ways the leaders could have handled this matter differentlyto come out with a better result.
I want you to think about these questions very carefully before answering.
