As shown in the diagram above Medical Access Inc. will be able to provide a more than adequate network to support medical operations at the facilities indicated with the ability to quickly expand operations to encompass many more medical facilities as the transition to the EMR system and look to share information between medical facilities in real time.

Specifications:

Users will be grouped according to their roles and given privileges based on their required level of access. Microsoft Active Directory will be used to organize and structure an Access Control List (ACL) based on the distinct groups and users. This will prevent someone in the finance department from having permission to create network accounts. Some examples of the separate groups include Information Technology, Human Resources, Finance, Administrators, Security, etc.

The domain controller will be a DHCP server with DNS services as well. A Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) password will be created, and it should not be the same as the administrator password.

A new scope will be defined in the DHCP server settings. The IP range specified above will be used and this is where exclusions can be made.

The Proof of Concept Working Model shown above shows the basic level network diagram for each facility.The interconnectivity of the facilities is also identified in the clear ability to communicate from one location to the next.

Possible Revisions to the High-Level Technical Design Draft:

The inclusion of an on-site server to provide offline operational capability should be incorporated along with a mirroring server setup within the MAI network for each facility supported by the ISP. The onsite server would include but is not limited to; DNS Server, DHCP Server, Mail Server, and Web Server capability.
