One the most important concepts that we talked about in this class was the drone usage on the supply chain. Having a background in supply chain operations really opened my eyes to ways that the drone helps track assets in a quarter of the time that it can take a human to. Being able to real-time track where some type of material was transported to or help to understand when a pallet is damaged in a rack with a view of how to take care of the issue before you arrive to that location. I can't count the number of time I have had to have quality assurance search for missing freight or how much I have walked around a building trying to find labeled items that need to go to a store.

For this weeks paper I focused on the military supply chain and the need for artificial intelligence paired with machine learning. One article that caught my eye was the hoverbike being able to move up to 800 pounds of material over 125 miles and they can be flown in low level packs (McNally, 2017). This is huge for the military as the need for items at an outpost could have a dangerous route or be known locations of activity that isn't favorable for our Soldiers. Safety has to be on the forefront of everyone's mind and these types of drones might be the way that the US Military supply chain helps to save lives. Imagine having life saving medical supplies shipped over any terrain with little to no need for a human to maneuver. Worth looking into from my perspective.
