I find this week's discussion post interesting because it deals with management making scheduling decisions for hospitals, universities, moviemaking, and make-to-order factory. On ScienceDriect.Com (2023) defined scheduling decision as "scheduling decisionsoptimize the plant performance and involve the detailed timing of operations and sequencing for a fixed process". Scheduling within the hospital, the decision involves the number of employees that you need in the operating rooms, emergency rooms, outpatients, administration and having the number of doctors and nurses that are needed to take care of patients. The overall goal of the hospital is to help and give solutions to feeling better as well as taking care of those who are really sick. In a university operation, the scheduling decisions management will ensure that there are enough classrooms and courses that are offered for students with different majors. Along with that, the university's president needs to have the right number of professors available to teach classes to students. The goal of the university is to provide adequate amount of class and student activities to meet the need of students being successful in the future. In a moviemaking operation, the scheduling decisions management will ensure that they have enough producers that are available to make a movie as well as needing studio time, actors, and actresses. The customers or jobs scheduled in this case are scenes that need to be shot. The type of scheduling decision for the make-to-order factory involves management making sure that there is enough machines, workers, and raw materials that are available to get out to the customer. Customers are essential in this situation because they expect the order to be the same way they placed it, is how it is supposed to be delivered. Lastly scheduling decision should be done in all operation long as there is proper planning that is done. I personally believe that when it comes to scheduling and planning, it needs to be done together because as managers we must be able to plan and event then go schedule it to ensure that it works best for all employees as well as customers. Employees will be satisfied if they can see and understand the schedule so that way they are able to take care of personal things and not hurt their team due to certain circumstances. In the operation that are listed above, long as things are meeting each operation purpose and standard, there would be any issue.
