****YOUR ANSWER SHOULD LOOK LIKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS ***

  1. What is your opinion of SPIFs? Should the customer be told if SPIFs are being offered to a store's sales personnel?

I believe SPIFs are beneficial, but can lead to some toxicity in the workplace as well. They can add motivation to the personnel to complete sales and it may be easier for businesses to cut the payroll down for some who aren't working as hard. I think that SPIFs also may be harmful because the personnel may cause conflict with each other because they see each other as competition. Yes, I think the customers should be told if SPIFs are offered because I believe the customers should always know how a business operates when they are giving their money to them.

  1. If you were the owner of a clothing store, would you incorporate a commission-based sales policy? Why or why not?

Personally, I wouldn't add a commission-based sales policy. I feel like it would increase sales temporarily because the personnel would be extremely motivated, but I value a friendly environment over temporary sales. The reason I say there might be only a temporary sales increase, I think the work environment would cause plenty of jealousy and drive customers away because they would sense the bad vibes.

  1. Think about a time when you had a positive encounter with a retail salesperson. What factors contributed to the favorable outcome?

I think a salesperson who is motivated is a huge factor. At times, they can be too motivated and it can be irritating, but when you feel a need for a product that's the biggest factor. A salesperson also has to be very friendly, knowledgeable and well-spoken.

  1. Think about a time when you had a negative encounter with a retail salesperson. What factors contributed to the negative outcome?

I only have negative encounters with a retail salesperson when I can sense their frustration with me. When I am negotiating a price with them or debating if I should buy a product and they are impatient or irritated with me, they drive me away even more. I am huge on respect and giving others positive energy, so when a salesperson doesn't have those qualities, it pushes me away.
