Decided to make this week about Hefty and Glad to compare ho each address waste management of products life cycle. These two companies that deal with holding others waste have created a higher responsibility for themselves on coming up with ways to create a strong sustainability program to reduce waste of their own products. Not only do they have to focus on reducing the waste of their own products but ways to help reduce of others.

Hefty went on the direction of rethinking how they produce their products. Implementing smaller packaging to shrink CO$2$ emissions. Hefty has revamped the material used to make trash bags by using $50\%$ recovered materials. They have converted the trash bags, paper plates, and bowls into a compostable material. Offering their consumers, the option to leave paper plates and switching over to plant$-$based materials. Also, they have started a new program that is offering communities to join the Hefty Renew Program which is collecting hard to recycle products and taking them to certain locations that Hefty will have the products picked up$,$ so they never make it to a landfill. It is a great program just must check their website to see if there is a local drop off area near you.

Glad approached of reducing waste is reducing the amount of plastic they use within their product and switching over to virgin material but offering the same quality product. Both companies share the same goal of reducing waste by having the manufacturing of their products down to zero waste in which Glad has achieved that goal while Hefty is still in the processes. Glad facilities are run by $100$ percent renewable electricity. Glad also has reduce the amount of packaging they use with products as well. On their site they give helpful information to their consumer on different ways of reducing waste as well.

Each company approach in reducing waste is similar but also different as well. Both have done similar tactics in order of reducing the use of plastic within the products they produce and finding ways to help locally. Glad and Hefty are in the business of trash, and it is their responsibility to sustain a strong environmental program.
