Please respond to this statement:

Risk management occurs when organizations calculate potential threats and implement processes to minimize them. "By focusing on risk and committing the necessary resources to control and mitigate risk, a business will protect itself from uncertainty, reduce costs, and increase the likelihood of business continuity and success." (IBM, n.d.). There are a variety of potential financial risks to an organization, including interest rate, credit, and systemic risk. However, operational riskpertains to human errors by people, systems, and internal operations. Unlike other types of risk, operational risk is manageable and easier to avoid with policies and regulations, background checks, and consistent training.

The Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) provides children ages five to eighteen a safe place to learn and grow. Located in all 50 states and "staffed by more than 50,000 trained professionals, there are over 4,700 autonomous local clubs, affiliates of the national organization, serving 4.3 million boys and girls." (Virginia Commonwealth University, 2020). The BGCA places the safety of young people as their top priority and works continuously to enhance safety policies, practices, and training to ensure they center on youth's needs (Newlin, n.d.).

The Safety Policies and Actions for the BGCA showcase their dedication to safety by illustrating various risk management procedures. First, The National Child Safety Advisory Task Force consists of experts who provide advice and expertise to BGCA leadership on safety trends, issues, initiatives, and best practices (Boys and Girls Club of America, 2017). Next, all Boys & Girls Clubs are required to have a local Board-Led Safety Committee. "This committee defines and drives the organization's vision for safety, continually reviews and improves policies, and implements solutions to ensure the safety of all Club members, staff, volunteers, and visitors." (Boys and Girls Club of America, n.d.). Lastly, Clubs can perform self-assessments through the Online Organizational Safety Assessment that provides recommendations to the BGCA safety resources. The self-assessments help each organization develop a board-driven safety improvement plan (Boys and Girls Club of America, 2017).
