Why is it important for organizations to focus on hiring ethical employees?

It is important to focus on hiring ethical employees because, if they do not there are many negative effects that they will be faced with. unethical behavior can have negative results such as, down word stock prices falling because of decision companies or their employees decided to make. Also, other financial harm based on decision top executives or other employees made during business deals. It is a loss of profits and bottom line for many companies. The reputation of the company can be smeared in the mud because of media based of of events also, or long court battels that make it to the public, putting that company at risk of others jumping onboard to defend the rights of others. Lastly because, the communities, customers, employees, and suppliers will change their business based on the unethical happenings of a company, again effecting the bottom line. Having ethical employees, protect the companies names, prevent laws from being broken, prevent theft from happening, and also keep good repour with stakeholders.

How would you develop a Code of Ethics for an organization that you have worked for or that you have read about? Explain in detail.

If I were to develop a Code of Ethics for the Navy, it would have something to do with the core values of the organization. Which are honor, courage, and commitment. Creating code of ethics involves not only the person writing it but by in from all level of the organization. Having groups come up with normal during working hour ethics, having the run by the next level and so on until it gets to the top. Then having the Top executives buy off on them to ensure that leadership is behind what the true ethics of the employees are. Doing it this way from the bottom to the top is a good way to get everyone on the same page and agree on what is right and wrong. If doing it this way, when employees are held accountable, you will have less back lash from them because, they know it was wrong. The Navy is a Sea power dominance enterprise that focuses not only on protecting our waters, but also taking the fight to them. The people are the most important asset, the Navy has ships but with out people they will just float in place. So, taking care of the people is what the Navy cares about. In doing so writing a Code of Ethics would be people oriented and standards driven.
