Part I:

For Part I, please use the data on sheet 1 of the Excel file Data, Assignment 3.

1. Find the mean, standard deviation, and range of each of the 2 variables (i.e. GDP per capita, broad money) in the dataset,foreachcountry.Reportyourresultsinawell-organized table.(10points)

2. Plot the time series of variable GDP per capita for the five countries. Put them in one graph. Then, do the same for the variable Broad Money. (10 points) Hint: I strongly recommend you use line plot.

3. Label your graphs from Question 2 carefully. Make sure your x-axis, y-axis, and legends are clearly labeled. Compare the plots between countries.Describe any pattern/trend you find. (10 points)

4. Calculate the annual growth rate of GDP per capita, for the year of 2001 to 2015. (20 points)

Example: suppose GDP per capita for country A is 105 in 2000 and 110 in 2001. The annual growth rate in 2001 is then (110-105)/105 = 4.76%.

5. Plot the variable annual growth rate of GDP per capita you get from Question 4. Compare with the plot of GDP per capita you get from Question 2, what you can say about the differences between the plots of the two variables? (10 points)

Part II

Please use the data on sheet 2 of the Excel file Data, Assignment 3.

Variable A contains 150 entries of artificial data I generated using some algorithm. Questions below are based on this sequence of data.

6. Find the mean, standard deviation, and range of Variable A. (5 points)

7. Create a histogram for Variable A. Is Variable A approximately normal distributed? Label your histogram clearly. (15 points)

8. Using a t-Test of Hypothesis for the mean to test the following hypothesis at =0.05 level: Null Hypothesis:H0: =4.5

Alternative Hypothesis:H1: =4.5 Can you reject the null hypothesis?

Note that this is a two-tail test.
