Assignment
4. Find the shortest distance from S to E on the network below. [40]
The cost between node S and node A is -1st number of your student number.
The cost between node A and node B is -2nd number of your student number.
The cost between node A and node C is -3rd number of your student number.
The cost between node B and node D is -4th number of your student number.
The cost between node S and node B is -5th number of your student number.
The cost between node C and node D is -6th number of your student number.
The cost between node C and node E is -7th number of your student number.
The cost between node D and node E is -8th number of your student number.
The cost between node A and node D is -9th number of your student number.
If there is a 0 in your student number change it to 1 i.e if your student number is 215412807 use it as 215412817. If there are repeating numbers like 218264666 change it to 218264657 or 218264678 i.e add or subtract 1. Dont use a number more than twice. If you still have number repeated more than twice add/subtract 2 or 3 to the number to make it different.
Marks Allocation
a.2 Mark for each route and corresponding cost.
b.1 mark each Removal/addition of route node/cost (shortest path).
c. Final route/cost calculation-5 Marks (these marks will be awarded, if everything above it is making sense, not for writing it).
5. A class-C IP address is 196.1.1.0 is given, subnet it so that you have at least 2 subnets of AB number of hosts, where A and B are maximum numbers in your student number in increasing order i.e if your student number is 21245689, then A=8 and B=9.[20]
Marks Allocation
Show it on NS3, with the help of connected routers(two)-4marks.
Subnet Calculation and explanation:6 marks (3for each).
Broadcast, Network id and subnet mask: 2 marks each.
Why this subnet mask is used? -2 marks
6. A class B network address of 129.1.0.0 is given and you need to create 4 subnets with minimum hosts as 9AB,8BC,3DE and 2AD.
Where A,B,C, D and E are taken from your student number as explained in table below. The student number taken here is 214001282.0 and repeating number are valid for this question. [40]
A B C D E F G H I
214001282
Marks Allocation
Show it on NS3, with the help of connected routers(four)-8marks.
Subnet Calculation and explanation:12 marks (3for each).
Broadcast, Network id and subnet mask: 2 marks each X 4 subnets=12
Why this subnet mask is used? -8 marks
