Therefore, the only way to achieve artificial gravity is by rotating a large cylindrical ship. Assume the ship is not moving with respect to the space station. ar a. The ship has a diameter of 960 m and a length of 2460 m. What is the maximum centripetal acceleration that can be achieved by rotating the ship, without the people going over the 28 m/s speed limit when standing inside at the edge of the ship? b. If it took them 20 s to uniformly speed up to the maximum allowed rotation, what is the tangential acceleration of a person standing at the inside edge of the ship? c. What is the total magnitude of acceleration experienced by the person during the speed up? d.
