please solve part 5, should be two answers, molar concentration for tubes 2-4 and molar concentration for tubes 5-7.
1. Colored compounds absorb light at a certain wavelength that is specific for that compound. You will study more about this in next week's experiment. The absorbance is proportional to concentration of the compound. The absorbance of a 1M solution of the compound is called its molar absorptivity. In this experiment you will use the dye Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250, which has a molar absorptivity of 43,000M1cm1. Concentration in the stock solution will be around 0.25mg/ml. The exact concentration will be written on the bottle of the stock. Write this exact concentration in your notebook. Convert this to molar concentration (molar mass is 826) and use it for your calculations in Step C5. 2. Take seven small test tubes, all of the same size (13X100mm). Label them 17. Using a glass pipet dispense 5ml water each into each. 3. Using a 50l fixed volume micropipet twice, add 100l Coomassie Blue solution to tubes 2,3 and 4. 4. Using a 500l fixed volume micropipette twice, add 1000l Coomassie Blue solution to tubes 5 , 6,7. 5. Using the formula M1V1=M2V2, calculate the molar concentration of the dye in these tubes (2 7). (Note that the total volumes in the two sets of tubes are not the same) Step by Step Solution
