plz answer (a) to (d)
3. Reverse osmosis is used to remove salt from seawater. In a standard process, seawater is fed into the reverse osmosis cell and brine waste (with a high salt concentration) and desalinized water (with a low salt concentration) are removed. The properties of the membrane dictate the efficiency of the separation. This results in a high amount of brine waste, so some of the brine is recycled back to the feed stream to reduce the amount of waste and to better control the velocity across the reverse osmosis membrane. Sea water is 3.1wt% salt and the desired concentration of salt in the desalinized water is 0.05wt%. The process is designed such that the ratio of desalinized water to fresh feed is 0.9. If the salt concentration entering the reverse osmosis membrane is 4.0wt%, answer the following questions for a 1000lb/hr feed of seawater. a) Draw the process diagram and label the streams b) Perform a degree of freedom analysis on all the systems in the process c) Calculate the fraction of the brine leaving the reverse osmosis cell that is recycled d) A customer approaches you looking for a desalinized water content of 0.3wt% (instead of 0.05wt%). Draw a modified process that will allow you to fulfill the customer's demands with the same reverse osmosis membrane
