(PO2,CO2,CO3,C4,C5) An elevated storage tank which is open to atmosphere as shown in figure 1 contain water at 27C where the density and viscosity are given as 1000kg/m3 and 8.51104Pas respectively. The water flows out from the tank through a sharp entrance to the pipeline. The pipe network in the system consists of pipe A and B where the diameters of the pipe are 10cm and 6cm respectively. The outlet discharge rate at point 2 is required to be kept a minimum of 7.5103m3/s. Figure 1 Storage tank pipeline network. Take the coefficient contraction Cc from pipe A to B as 0.4 and the relative roughness of both pipes as 0.6mm. (20 marks) b) Due to dry season and drought the water level in the tank falls below the level as stated above. Suggest an improvement to the design so that the minimum flow rate at the outlet is being kept. Include justification to your suggested design
