Poem 

 

Think about how "The House Slave" explores slavery or how the other poems we have discussed explores other things about the human condition.

 

2.  Providea poem based on one of the photographs from Photo Exercise.pdf. (photos attached below)

 Your poem should take some issue, concern, or event inspired by that photo and explore it through metaphor as the poems we have read so far do. This will be a draft of a poem that you will be including in your portfolio. Make the poem concrete and specific. Use fresh and evocative images. The poem may be as long as you like. What's important is that it is striking, original, and moves beyond the literal. 

 

Your poem must be in free verse and you are not allowed to use exact end rhyme. Use the photograph as a trigger, as a jumping off point. Think about who the speaker of the poem is.  Do not forget to give the poem a title. The title of your poem should not be the title of the photograph. You are creating a new piece of art.
