Parts as follows: top housing, bottom housing, a circuit board, 5 captative screws and a label. The daily production demand for a complete radio is 100 units per shift with a 2-shift operation. Each shift is 8 hours, with 30 minutes for lunch and two 15-minute breaks. It takes on average 10 minutes to complete the build at this workstation. Top and bottom housings fit 20 per bin, circuit boards at fit 50 per bin, captative screws fit 75 a bin and labels come in packs of 100 per bin. Calculate the quantity of Kanban bins required by part type for the workstation with a 2-bin system. Show your work. Part B. What other factors should be considered when calculating the volume and Kanban systems for the radio listed above.
