PreLab Questions Please complete the following questions prior to coming to lab. These questions are designed to help with formulating the experiment. Please read the following scenario carefully: A mass, M , sits on a frictionless table and is attached (horizontally) to an elastic which is attached to a string. If you held the other end the string in a xed position, while the mass is freely travelling at a constant velocity v away from your hand, answer the following: 1.) Sketch / describe a series of diagrams of the scenario as the mass moves away from your hand (which is holding the string). Assume the string is sufciently long such that it is untaught intially. Hint: think about how a rubber band behaves when it gets stretched, and unstretched. 2.) Sketch (and label) the force vs. time graph in this scenario. Hint: This implies that the force acting on the mass is not constant throughout the whole scenario. 3.) Predict and sketch (and label) a velocity vs. time graph in this scenario. 4.) From these sketched graphs, identify where, and how you could extract values to prove the impulsemomentum theorem
