Preparation of a two-component dihydrogen phosphate - hydrogen phosphate buffer You will prepare 100mL of 0.15M potassium phosphate buffer, pH6.8, from solid K2HPO4 (potassium hydrogen phosphate) and solid KH2PO4 (potassium dihydrogen phosphate; Ka=6.17108). 1) Which species is the acid? 2) Which species is the conjugate base? 3) Use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to find the ratio of conjugate base to acid required. 4) Calculate the fraction of each buffer component. 5) Find the molarity of each component in the buffer. 6) Calculate the moles of each component and convert to grams. 7) Prepare the buffer. a. Add a stir bar and 25mL of water to an appropriately sized flask. Place the flask on a stir plate. b. Add solid HA component and mix. c. Add solid A-component and mix. d. Add appropriate amount of water to make 100mL solution. 8) Measure the pH of the buffer and record here. 9) What could cause a deviation in pH if you noticed one
