Connaught Limited manufactures a liquid compound for the pharmaceutical industry. The company uses a process costing system based on the weighted average method to value production and inventory. There are two main processes used in the production of the compound. Firstly, Thinning, where various compounds are combined, and then Fusing where the mixed materials are heated and blended. All raw materials are introduced at the start of the Thinning process and the completed output is transferred to the Fusing department. No additional materials are input during the Fusing process.
