Primarily, unfortunately, there is a past, current, and ongoing nursing shortage going on today. Is it a global problem, yes, it is. When someone from an impoverished country such as the Philippines, Asia, or Africa seeks to pursue reciprocity and become a Nurse in the U.S. this proposes a lot of conflicts. The impoverished country has invested money into this nurse where resources are already little to none. So, then the Nurse is put between a rock and a hard place. They can practice medicine in their country. They then can put themselves as well as their family in a better living situation. Leaving the country with a current shortage because then the Nurse leaves. The nurse now places a burden on her country because they provided the funding and possibility for education, and they leave the country for a better life. So that they can also send money to their loved ones left behind for a better life. Their motivation is a better livelihood for themselves and their family. Food to eat, a car to drive. Not impoverished living conditions. Consequently, the country originally migrated from is then short a nurse. This places a burden on them, not on the U.S. The U.S. has no shortage other than when nurses retire or choose to work for an agency they call this a shortage but there are many Nurses in the U.S. The shortage is in the countries mostly that they choose to migrate out of.
Especially in this economy today why would someone not be seeking a better financial situation to be in?
