Private prisons are operated by employers to make a profit and do not benefit from any government standard. For-profit jails, like ICE, have a deal with the federal government, but do not cooperate with demands for public information (Warner, 2016). Any of these private prisons hold asylum seekers, including women and children, one of whom has been convicted of inhumane care and refugee conditions in Houston. There is no one to keep for-profit jails accountable without adequate oversight
