The flux (0.40Kg perKg of pig iron) was pure CaCO3. The gas contained 28%CO and 12%CO2. Required: per ton of pig iron made: (1) The weight of ore used (2) The weight of slag made (3) The volume of the blast-furnace gas Prob. 4: In the furnace of prob. 3, the blast is preheated to 650C. The gases leave the top of the furnace at 250C. Required: A heat balance of the furnace
