Problem 2. Three populations of aerosol particles with diameters of 0.1,1, and 10m are released into a room at height H=1.6m from the ground. The particles consist of mostly water, so material density p=1gcm3. The dynamic viscosity of air is =1.8105kgm1s1, and the mean free path of air is =0.0651m. Hint: review the pdf note aerosol particle part 2 . 1. (2 points) Calculate the Knudsen numbers at these three diameters. Based on the results, comment on the regimes that these particles are in. 2. (2 points) Calculate the slip correction factor, or also known as the Cunningham correction factor at these three diameters, usually denoted as Cc. Explain when and why it deviates from 1 . 3. (1 point) Calculate the terminal settling velocity of particles with those three diameters. Hint: Be careful about units. Best to convert to SI first. 4. (1 point) Assuming particles immediately reach the terminal settling velocity, calculate the time needed for particles with those three diameters to fall to the ground. 5. (1 point) If viruses are carried by particles less than 1m, comment on the effectiveness of 1.8m social distance indoors
