image text in transcribed Problem 4. A groundwater containing 50mg/L of Trichloroethane (TCA) will be treated in a rectangular Plug Flow Tank Reactor (PFTR) as shown below. The reactor is open to atmosphere. The water flows through the reactor with a constant velocity of (v) of 1m/min. TCA can be removed in PFTR by evaporation and biochemical degradation. For evaporation of TCA, the two-film mass transfer coefficient ( KA2) is given as 400cm/h, while for the biodegradation of TCA, the first-order reaction rate constant (k1) is 0.02min1. According to information given in problem: a) Calculate water flow rate passing through PFTR reactor as m3/min (5p) b) Calculate hydraulic retention time of PFTR reactor as min. (5p) c) Calculate effluent TCA concentration as mgL at steady state conditions. (10p) d) Calculate percent TCA removal efficiency of the PFTR reactor. (5p)
