Problem 9: Triple-doubles The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is a top-level professional basketball league in the US. Over the course of a single WNBA season, there are three main statistical categories that are tracked for every player: Points, rebounds, and assists (you do not need to know what any of these are for this problem). If a player scores at least 10 points, grabs at least 10 rebounds, and makes at least 10 assists in a single game, this is called a triple-double (meaning, reaching double digits in three statistical categories). A player can average a triple-double over the course of a season if her per-game average over 36 games in each category is at least 10. (a) What is the most number of games in which a player can have zero points, zero rebounds, and zero assists, and still average a triple double over an 36 game season? Give an explicit example to show your result. (b) How would you compare the performance in your example to a player who has exactly 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in every game? (c) What does this have to do with statistics?
