Problem Description:
Background Information:
Pioneer TAFE is an outstanding education and training provider. Apart from its current campus at Brisbane, the TAFE has just built two new campuses in Sydney and Melbourne. The overall enrolment of this TAFE is expected to increase after mid-2021. Currently, Pioneer TAFE uses a third-party education delivery and learning environment called Blackboard. A number of challenges have been observed during the COVID19 situation in the online delivery of the classes. To overcome these limitations as well as to address the increasing number of students, Pioneer TAFE is looking for several upgrades to their current education delivery system. Two primary goals of this upgrade have been discussed below. Your task will be to design suitable cloud-based IT systems to achieve these goals. Current Setup of Pioneer TAFE: Pioneer TAFE aims to create two high-end laboratories, one for data science and the other for gaming courses. Both laboratories will be built using 3 on-premise physical servers residing in the Brisbane campus. The physical servers are provisioned with the following configuration: Physical Server A, B, and C are located in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. The physical servers located in Sydney and Melbourne have more physical memory and processing power than Brisbane. Each physical server includes an array of high-speed disks as storage. Each physical server can host 10 virtual servers at maximum (workload threshold is 10). Currently, each physical server is hosting 2 virtual servers. Each virtual server can host ten cloud service instances (workload threshold is 10). Currently, each virtual server is hosting 5 cloud service instances. Each cloud service instance can handle request from a student at a time. The current student enrolment is 30 on each campus. Therefore, each physical server is configured with 5 virtual servers, and each virtual server is provisioned with 6 cloud service instances.

Part A (20 marks): Design cloud computing architectures for the following scenario: Scenario 1: The number of enrolments on the Brisbane campus increases to 45. 1) Design a suitable cloud computing architecture to handle this scaling issue dynamically for the Brisbane campus. The design should include a detailed diagram including all crucial components of the architecture. Describe how the architecture works (300 words). (10 marks) 2) Now design an alternate solution to address the scenario. Use a variant of the cloud architecture used in Part A (1), different mechanisms with the cloud architecture used in Part A (1), or a different cloud computing architecture. Draw a detailed diagram of the proposed architecture and discuss how it works (~300 words). (10 marks) Part B (20 marks): Design a solution for the following scenario: Scenario 2: Pioneer TAFE does not have sufficient resources to provision a specialised cloud service offering machine learning features. The TAFE hires this cloud service from AWS. The data center of this AWS service resides in Ohio, USA. The TAFE collects attendance and personal information from students which need to be stored. However, according to Australian data policy, the TAFE must store all collected data in an Australian data center. 1) Discuss a solution to this issue. Your solution should allow Pioneer TAFE to store the data into an Australia data center (the TAFE can use its on-premise storage) and use the cloud service from AWS. Your solution should include a detailed diagram and a clear discussion on how the solution works (300 words). (10 marks) 2) Pioneer TAFE aims to provision several ready-made environments (PaaS) for the Melbourne staff. Discuss how the TAFE will utilise its on-premise infrastructures to create these ready- made environments. Use a detailed diagram to illustrate the solution (~300 words).
