Problem Set 5: blood_sugar_cereals.csv A scientist is interested in how breakfast foods affect short-term blood sugar levels. Two groups of human volunteers (n = 35 in each) are given either a standard cereal or Special J, a cereal designed to sustain higher blood sugar levels for 4 hours. After eating, each subject's blood sugar level is monitored (testing every 20 minutes) until it drops below 100, or until 5 hours has elapsed. The collected data are in blood_sugar_cereals.csv. These data are the elapsed time from eating until blood sugar dropped below 100. If blood sugar did not drop below 100 after 5 hours, the subjects were given the special value: -99. (Hint: you'll need to fix both the format of the file and the special values to get these data analyzed).

1. Provide the most appropriate graph of the data.

2. What two kind of censoring are present in these data?

3. Which statistical test is most appropriate? What is the statistical null hypothesis?

4. Provide appropriate descriptive statistics.

5. Provide a numeric and verbal description of the results of the scientific hypothesis test. Provide follow-up comparisons only if needed. control specialJ 80 80 190 120 90 -99 170 180 90 250 -99 160 110 -99 70 210 260 160 220 80 140 -99 -99 -99 240 -99 300 160 70 160 270 70 100 110 250 110 120 220 90 140 140 120 170 160 180 90 130 -99 -99 210 80 280 230 -99 90 220 100 270 100 170 130 -99 130 260 100 -99 200 -99 80 -99
