Problem Statement:

Current studies have focused on disparities in the utilization of mental health services between Black Americans and dominant racial groups or foreign domestic-born Black Americans. While these studies have addressed cultural, structural, and spiritual barriers to Black Americans accessing mental health treatment and addressing an unmet need, research is limited on how these barriers might be interrelated. Also, studies have focused on these barriers as being separate constructs. Therefore, further studies must be conducted to determine how to handle potential barriers while designing interventions specific to this population that might increase access and compliance.
