Problem Statement The service department at Bumble Bee Honda BBH) repairs all years and models ofHonda vehicles, whether purchased at BBH or elsewhere. BBH maintains a record ofall customers who have had them Honda serviced by BBH. Customers, known by a customer identification mumber, have a name, address and telephone number and the vehicle or vehicles serviced by BBH. Each vehicle has a vehicle identification number WIN), model, model year and license plate number Customers contact a BBH service representative to schedule a service appointment. The appointment is assigned a unique number, is for a specific day and vehicle, and is for one or more customer-identified repairs, e.g. 75,000-mle service, wheel alignment, check engine light. On the day of the appointment, the customer delivers the vehicle to BBH. A service representative verifies the appointment and creates a service order for the repair work to be done. The representative records the vehicle's mileage. The representative and customer work together to determine the specific problem s that must be repaired. The agreed upon repams are recorded in the service order. Finally, a service order is printed and signed by the customer Each repair problem is assigned a unique line number in the service order. This is used to track the diagnosis of the problem and the repair action or actions taken to resolve the problem BBH has a list of all diagnostic and repain actions that the service technician, may take. Each is identified by a unique identification mumber and contams a descrption and the standard time to complete the diagnosis/repair For example, the repair problem may be that the check engine light is on The diagnosis may be that the fuel filter is clogged, and the repain actions may be to replace the fuel filter and test-drive the vehicle. Each repair action performed by the service technician may require one or more parts. BBH uses only Honda parts, which are obtained from the regional Honda parts distribution center. Each part has a unique identification mumber along with name, descrption, unt of measure, cost per unit, and the bn mumber where kept in the Parts Department
