Procedure

A. Estimating the number of kilograms of air contained in this room when it is empty.

Estimate the volume of the room by the following procedure. First measure the height, width and length ignoring protruding structural columns. Use the long meter sticks, and make full use of the geometric tiles on the floor (they are very nearly 12" x 12"). The resulting volume yields the mass of the air when multiplied by the density, 1.29 kg/m3. Your answer here should reflect the number of significant figures of your raw data.

Suppose the measurement I got is:

height = 231.1 cm

width = 640.5 cm (there were 21 tiles so if 12x12" tiles = 640cm after converting in. to cm)

length = 1, 143 cm (there were 37.5 tiles so if 12x12" tiles = 1,143cm after converting in. to cm)

will the volume be (l x w x h) = 1.69 x10^8?

If I calculate mass ( m= dv), will it be 2.18 x 10^8

So if my volume and mass is correct, how do I answer the question below:

A.

I have measured the volume of the air in this laboratory room and hereby report that using an assumed density of _____ kg/m3, I find that the room contained _________ kg of air. {How close you come to the "true" answer is how accurate your measurement was.}I certify that, should another careful experimentalist attempt to make the same measurement, she (he) will come within* ________%, approximately, of my value. {Too high a number here, will show you to be a sloppy experimentalist, unable to squeeze the best from the tools available. Too low a number will expose you as a fraud, claiming a precision unwarranted by your instruments and methods of using them.}

I assume that the answer for the first blank is the given value (1.29 kg/m^3).

Will the answer for the second blank is 2.18x10^8?

How do I then answer the last blank, which is the percentage of error(?)

thank you!!
