Product stewardship is a shared responsibility for the life-cycle of products including the environmental impact of the product from the extraction of virgin materials, to manufacturing, to consumption and through to and including ultimate disposal and post-disposal consequences (Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001 (NSW) s 15(2)). How are persons and entities encouraged or required to take responsibility for products through law and policy in Australia? Can we learn from the experience of other countries?
