Golden Arrow Ltd., is a HCMC based HR solution in service industry who is looking at creating a website and social media presence.

Golden Arrow have been trading for over 10yrs, and became a private limited company in 2017. The business provides consultant and solution services for hospitality industry including HR & Talent development services.

Golden Arrow does not have a website or any social media profile and does not do any tradtional marketing, other than positioning its signs at properties the company is working on and attracting passing traffic / interest. All of the companys sales are gained through word of mouth advertising and referrals from existing and past clients and the company is continually busy.

As a result of the continued business success the owners have not yet invested in a website or social media, however with the recent closure a key competitor in the hospitality sector, local and cooperated hotel groups, Golden Arrow is looking to expand their market to F&B and other service sectors positioning in the market.

Project: To help them develop their web presence they want to understand what customers (residential and / or commercial) look for when they are researching / selecting for potential clients.
Scope of Project

The project may involve:

  • Gathering primary research from residential customers to identify the key characteristics.
  • Gathering primary research from commerical customers in future to identify the key characteristics that they look for.
  • Comparing and contrasting the websites and / or social media sites of other competitors based in HCMC to identify the key information that they have on their sites.

Note: this project does not involve building a website or social media site.

The company has just entered the market and does not have an official website, so they need consultation to broaden their vision and need industry experts to create a website. They also want to retain customers for the extra solution as well, not just for the expanded market. They want to look more professional and more advertised, so they can lean over and expand the market. They need to invest in the website, but they have no clue how much their can pay for the fee. So, they need help from a consultant who can use the subject. They just provide HR services.

Write an individual 2500-word consultancy report, which must include:

1.An overview of the project and a clear identification of the Scope of the Project (i.e. what was the project about?).

The best way to do this section is to start by explaining the Clients Needs and then outlining the Scope of Your Project.

The reason for this is that the Clients need is always much bigger than the scope of the consultancy.

The client always needs more, so consultancy negotiations start big and then narrow down to clearer and more manageable scope.

You did this in the early part of the project, so this section is just asking you to redefine this and by doing so, you are in effect providing an introduction to the assignment.

2.A critical discussion of your actual project methodology this should draw on consultancy theory and models discussed in the module.

This is section focuses on what you did and how you did it, although it is more of a business methods section, than a research methodology section.

This means that you should focus on how you ran the consultancy project as a team, for example:

What project management techniques did you use?

How did communicate with each other and the client and how often?

Did you a Gantt chart to schedule activities?

Did you track your progress when the project parameters changed?

You should also discuss what methods you used to gather information i.e. secondary research from online sources, open discussions on online forums, surveys, focus groups etc.

You could explain how your plans and your methods changed when the lockdown came into force.

What impact did this have on your project? Did it make it harder to gather information and connect with the client?

3. A list of the Outputs that the project created.

  • CATWOE analysis
  • A detail customer persona or a demographic profile

4.A summary of the Key Findings from the project and a considered explanation to show the value of the project (outputs & findings) to the client.

This section is focused on your findings and what you provided to the client. This does not need to be a big discovery.

The Findings are what you learnt from the project, and these should be discussed in the main body of the report.

In this section you need to demonstrate the key findings of the project and show the value (contribution) of the project to the client in helping them to address their long-terms goals.

As mentioned in class several times, a key output for the client from your involvement will have been time to think and the opportunity to reflect on new ideas.

Every project has made a contribution to their client, in this respect.
