The implementation of an innovative marketing strategy reveals multiple opportunities for a company. At the same time, its effectiveness highly depends on involvement and engagement of team members. Effective internal communication includes the clear articulation of the goals and stages of the marketing strategy implementation, the roles and responsibilities of team members, the measures of evaluating the success of a strategy and the benefits for a company and team members resulting from the success of a new strategy. However, poor communication will create asynchronization among departments and lead to negative consequences for a company.

The effectiveness of communication depends on numerous factors, one of which is proper communication channels. The context and magnitude of organizational changes define the chosen channel of communication and may vary from messaging through Slack or Google to personal meetings and conferences (Argenti, 2019). The implementation of the innovative marketing strategy is an important operational performance change including the presentation of the new strategy to employees. Since the whole team will participate in the process, the main goal is to make all employees knowledgeable about the new strategy. Effective communication should have a clear structure according to the hierarchy of subordination and will include the presentation of the marketing strategy to the management, who should further introduce it to team leaders, and team leaders should introduce the strategy to team members. The implementation of the fresh marketing strategy will influence an existing operational climate, affecting the communication climate as well. The new strategy includes new procedures, which initially can be stressful for employees. Consequentially, the primary goal for the performance management at this stage is to c reate an encouraging communication climate, answering all questions and providing explanation to employees to ensure their full understanding. Furthermore, if employees share their initiatives and offer suggestions, the management should demonstrate acknowledgement and appreciation for the effort.

Failing to use effective interpersonal skills at every stage of the introduction of the fresh marketing strategy will have short-term and long-term consequences for a company. Short-term consequences include inconsistencies in operations among the departments of a company. For instance, if a sales team understands the new strategy, adjusting its operations accordingly, and a purchasing department did not have an opportunity to use the necessary communication platform, a company can face out-of-stock items or delays in delivery. Eventually, long-term consequences will include reduced growth opportunities and losses caused by the unsynchronized performance of different departments.

The prevention of poor communication should incorporate relevant leadership principles. As shown in the study by Lee (2020), the implementation of leadership strategies has a positive effect on employees' motivation. Consequentially, effective communication should include the principles of leadership communication.
