This week, the Chinese yuan has continued to weaken against the dollar. The dollar has been getting stronger against other countries' currency such as the Mexican peso and South Africa rand, but the difference against the yuan has been a significant one.
The dollar/yuan was at 6.93, almost at 7, last week on Wednesday, accordingto experts, this is extremelyimportant and psychological in the market.
"The market is watchful and waiting to see if the U.S. administration says anything to protest dollar strength," said Alan Ruskin, global head of G-10 currency strategy at Deutsche Bank (Patti Domm, 2018).
On the other hand, the dollar still has to improve since the current dollar index is at 96.68, compared to 103.82 from last year in January 2017. Furthermore, some experts are waiting for currency policies intervention from Washington since the current government, Trump has previously expressed his preferences for a weaker dollar. However, the white house hasn'texpressed any comments about the Chineseyuan.
