PSI Project

You have now finished your interview and risk assessment (Unit 6) and will now finish and submit your final presentence investigation report. In addition to preparing these reports, the most important function of a probation department is to supervise defendants who have been placed on probation rather than serving time in prison or jail. The mission of probation is to provide necessary services to the defendant aimed toward reducing criminal/delinquent behavior while balancing the needs and ensuring the safety of the community. Utilize the provided presentence investigation (PSI) template (attached above)to conduct your final report for submission to the sentencing judge. Be sure that you are writing this in a professional manner; in other words, no slang (unless using a quote) and no informal language. Be sure, too, that you give your report a final read-through prior to uploading your completed document.
