Imagine that a colleague tells you that she has developed a new, quick intelligence test. It involves determining your shoe size (e.g., 6, 7, 8) and adding a "0" to the end of it. The resulting number represents your IQ. For example, if your shoe size were 7, your IQ would be 70. If your shoe size were 12, your IQ would be 120. If you have a half shoe size, such as 9, you would round up to the next whole shoe size and then add the "0" (so a shoe size of 9 would be rounded to 10, and the resulting IQ score would be 100).
