Public Companies (companies that anyone can buy shares of stock in), are required to submit various forms to the Securities and Exchange (SEC). One of these forms is the 10K which, submitted once a year, reports the financial results and other information about the previous fiscal year. This report is available to all and is used by investors, customers, vendors, and others.

Below are links to the 10K of several companies all are companies that buy products, called inventory, and sell those products for a profit.

Choose one of the companies below, click on the link, and look for the following:

  1. Look at the first page of the 10K report. Some companies use this as their annual report so there are maybe some product pictures before you get to the 10K.

  3. Usually this starts with a report from the independent auditors and or a letter from the company executives. Who are the independent auditors_______________________
  4. Find the Balance Sheet. What is the date of the most recent column? _______________
  1. There are usually 3 major sections, The first is Assets, what are the other 2?____________
  2. Name 3 assets ____________________________________________
  3. Name 2 Liabilities___________________________
  4. Now find the Income statement, sometimes called something a little different but usually the first line is Revenue or Sales, and near the bottom is a line called Net Income. What is the date on the most recent column? _________________
  5. How much was the total Revenue or Sales in the most recent year? Put all zeros in._____________
  6. What was their Net Income? __________________
