Purified water from a sedimentation plant is used to absorb CO2 from flue gas using a counter-current plate tower at atmospheric pressure and 25C. The CO2 inlet concentration of 0.1kmol per kmol of flue gas is absorbed by the organic solvent such that it exits the plate tower 5 times less than the initial concentration. The organic solvent enters the top of the plate tower at 0.025kmol/m2.s and exits at the bottom of the tower containing 0.012CO2 per kmol of organic solvent. The material data sheet (MSDS) of the organic solvent used showed no amount of CO2 on the inlet stream. The absorption equilibrium at 25C is given by the relation YCO2=1.141XCO2 and KGa =0.0513kmol/m3s. Determine the following: ii i) The flow rate of the inlet flue gas stream. (5) ii) By using a graphical method, the number of transfer units required. iii) The height of the plate tower required for the separation
