Question
Q2: A plate tower providing five equilibrium stages is employed for stripping ammonia from a wastewater stream by means of countercurrent air at atmospheric pressure
Q2: A plate tower providing five equilibrium stages is employed for stripping ammonia from a wastewater stream by means of countercurrent air at atmospheric pressure and 300 K.
a) Please draw the system schematically and label all streams showing the flow rates and compositions.
b) Calculate the concentration of ammonia in the exit water using graphical method if the inlet liquid concentration is 3.5 mol % ammonia in water, the inlet air is free of ammonia, and 2m ^ 3 of air are fed to the tower per kg of wastewater (free).
c) Do part a using Kremser Equation and compare your results to part a.
d) Calculate the recovery of A and find minimum gas flow rate for this system.
