Q3. A distillation column is being used to separate a liquid mixture of solvents with water. A mixture contains ethanol and water ( 3.0% by mass) is fed to the distillation column. The second mixture contains methanol and water is also fed to the distillation column with mass flow rate of 5300kg/hr. A product stream leaving the top of the column (overhead product) contains methanol, and a second stream leaves the column at 1200kg/h with ethanol, methanol (70.0% by mass) and water. The bottom product stream contains ethanol and water ( 60.0% by mass). (a) Draw a flowchart for the process and label all the streams and variables. (b) Justify if all the variables can be solved or not. (c) Suppose the mass fraction of methanol in the second feed stream is 90.0% and the mass fraction of ethanol in the second stream leaving the column is 20.0%. Calculate the mass flow rates of fed stream and product streams
