Q3. Free Fall: You are on top of the Tybee Island light house, and you decided to use your physics knowledge to check the height of the tower by dropping a small pebble. You found out that it takes the pebble 3s to hit the ground below. (20 points) i . Draw a picture with a preferred coordinate system. How tall is the Light house tower? 11 . Convert the height to imperial units (feet). Assume 1 foot is 0.3048m iii. Your friend who didn't bother climbing 178 steps up, decided to find the height of the tower by throwing a pebble up. If he wants the apex of the path to reach the top of the tower, find the initial velocity, he should throw. iv. He was only able to throw up to 20m, what is the actual initial velocity of his throw. Q4. Kinematic Equations and inclined plan: From the top of an inclined hill, a kid on a sled begins sliding. As measured from a horizontal surface, the hill has an inclination angle of 20 degrees. The kid slides down for 25m along the hill. You may neglect the effects due to friction along the inclined plane. (20 points) 25m 200 1 . What is the kid's acceleration along the incline? ii. How long does it take him to reach the bottom of the hill? What is his velocity when he reaches the bottom of the hill? IV . At the bottom of the hill assume the path converts into a horizontal region giving ample of time for the kid to stop. In this region acceleration opposing his motion is - 2.3- How far will he slide in this region before he comes to a complete stop
