Q3: q=200 KN/m RAX RAY 40 420 360 20 10 m 5 m Ray Ay -300- NA 15 200 Figure 1 The I profile of the Question-1 is supporting a uniform loading as shown in the figure 3. 1-/ Draw the shear force and the bending moment diagrams and indicate the imporatant values. 2-/ Indicate in each portion of your bending moment diagram if the Top and the Bottom of the beam is in compression or in tension. 3-/ Calculate the maximum axial compressive stress and the maximum axial tensile stress and show their locations in the beam and on the cross section area. N.B: Note that the maximum moment is not the only factor that it decides about the maximum stress. The distance from the neutral axis in association with the maximum/minimum moment are the two factors that should be taken into account. 4-/ a- Localize in the beam the maximum shear force. b- Calculate then the maximum shear stress respectively at the intersection between the web and top and bottom flanges, respectively as well as at the Neutral axis. 5/ Draw the profile (the distribution) of the normal stress and of the shear stress on a sketch of the cross section of the beam at B location.
