N.B: Note that the maximum moment is not the only factor that it decides about the maximum stress. The distance from the neutral axis in association with the maximum/minimum moment are the two factors that should be taken into account. 4-/ a- Localize in the beam the maximum shear force. b- Calculate then the maximum shear stress respectively at the intersection between the web and top and bottom flanges, respectively as well as at the Neutral axis. 5/ Draw the profile (the distribution) of the normal stress and of the shear stress on a sketch of the cross section of the beam at B location.
