Quality of life is measured differently in every country. It is based mostly off of personal security, income, health, housing and work-life balance. Japan and Mexico are known for their hard workers who put in the most hours of work; because they share those qualities they are very alike when it comes to the quality of life and happiness. Having a good paying job helps to promote happiness because it allows you to be included socially. According to OCED Japan's work-life quality is much lower compared to other countries.

Their employees work much longer hours that don't allow for a lot of leisure time. This has become so popular that its almost a part of their culture to work extreme hours to compete with others. When compared to Mexico its almost a mirror image in statistics of how much time they get to spend enjoy leisure time. The biggest question here is how have other countries succeeded in balancing work and life to maximize happiness of their citizens?
