In experimental design, participants are assigned to the treatment or control group using a random procedure (i.e. Random assignment). In quasi-experimental research, however, the participants are not randomly assigned. There is No random assignment in quasi-experimental research. Because of this, quasi-experiments are generally conducted in field settings, rather than a controlled lab environment.
