Question 1 (8 points) A type 1 diabetic needs to calculate the amount of carbs in a meal to determine how much insulin to give. A fast food chain lists the following in the nutrition guide for the grams of carbs in particular food items: cheese burger 38 grams of carbs regular 12 oz shake is 56 grams of carbs regular order of fries (5.1 oz) is 44 grams of carbs If the meal consists of a cheese burger, Large shake (20 oz), and a small order of fries (2.5 oz), then how many grams of carbs total is that meal? Show how many grams of carbs for each of the three meal components and round your answer to one decimal place. Question 2 (12 points) Answer the following questions. 1. A store is offering a sale of 25% off all items. What is the price of a $18 shirt after the discount? Round answers to two decimal places. 2. A customer paid $31.99 for a shirt that normally sells for $39.99. What percent discount did the customer receive? Round your answer to the nearest percent 3. A customer and a sales person are arguing about a promotion and a coupon applied after the promotional discount. The promotion is a 30% discount on all items in the store. The coupon is an additional 15% off of the order. The customer claims the 30% discount should be made before the 15% discount. The sales person claims it does not matter which order to give the discounts. Who is correct and why (make sure you prove your claim and include relevant mathematical calculations - I am a skeptic and will doubt your answer unless you have enough details to prove your conclusion)
